As a part of our growing civil engineering team, you will take the lead in the design and/or construction management of various transportation, land/site development, infrastructure, and facility improvement projects.
To be considered for this position, you will need the following basic requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university with an emphasis on Civil Engineering
- PE license or the ability to obtain it within one year of the hire date
- Minimum of 5 years of design experience in municipal, site development, grading, drainage, stormwater, and related permitting in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois
- Project Management experience is required
- Experience in Business Development and client interaction is a plus
- The ability to work collaboratively with other team members and clients
- Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and computer skills
- Experience with relevant computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, etc.) is preferred
This position will require collaboration with other team disciplines including Land Surveying, Planning, and Construction Management to maintain project timelines, budgets, and client expectations.
Hybrid/remote may be an option for the right candidate.
As a part of our growing civil engineering team, you will assist in the design and construction management of various transportation, land/site development, infrastructure, and facility improvement projects. Duties will include assisting in the development of reports, plans, details, and other engineering documents related to these projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other civil design software.
To be successful in this role, you will need:

- E.I.T. Certificate or the ability to obtain within one year of the hire date
- The ability to work collaboratively with other team members and clients
- Demonstrate organizational, communication, and computer skills
- Working knowledge of basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft, AutoCAD, Excel, etc.)
- Previous internship or summer work within the Civil Engineering field is preferred but not required
This position will require collaboration with our team client’s disciplines of Design, Construction Management, and Land Surveying to maintain project timelines, budgets, and client expectations.
As a part of our growing civil engineering team, you will assist or lead in the design of various transportation infrastructure projects. Experience designing Wisconsin State, County, Municipal, and Township transportation infrastructure, including roadway and bridge projects is preferred. Project experience should include the design of new highways, reconditioning of existing highways, intersection improvements and roundabouts, construction staging, erosion control, and stormwater management as related to the projects. Associated with these projects would be a demonstrated proficiency with utility and agency coordination, creating project reports including environmental and design study reports. Duties will include leading or participating in the development of the above style projects, plans, details, and other engineering documents related to these projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other civil design software. The work will be varied and will require a keen eye for detail.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university with an emphasis on Civil Engineering
- PE license or the ability to obtain it within one year of the hire date
- Minimum of 2 years of transportation project design experience
- Solid understanding of the Wisconsin Facilities Development Manual for Project Development
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and 3D modeling
- The ability to work collaboratively with other team members and clients
- Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and computer skills
- Report, Plans, and Specification production skills as part of the larger Team
This position will require collaboration with other team disciplines including Land Surveying, Planning, and Construction Management to maintain project timelines, budgets, and client expectations
As a part of our growing civil engineering team, you will work as a construction leader/inspector on the roadway, bridge, and other transportation, municipal and private sector projects. The candidate will have demonstrated experience in construction inspection of bridges, roadways, utility infrastructure, and the ability to assist with the design of transportation and municipal infrastructure projects outside of the construction season.
Project experience should include new construction of highways, reconditioning of existing roadways, intersections/roundabouts, construction staging, erosion control, stormwater management, and underground utilities. This position will also require a demonstrated ability to coordinate with utility companies, local approval agencies, and the public. Batterman has a long and proud history of excellent construction management with WisDOT and local communities. We are looking for the right candidate who would like to learn from and continue that tradition.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university with an emphasis on Civil Engineering
- PE license or the ability and desire to obtain it in a reasonable timeframe
- Minimum of 3 years of construction inspection, preferably in Wisconsin
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or willingness to learn Civil 3D is preferred
- The ability to work collaboratively with other team members and clients

- Willingness to work as assigned hours and various locations as needed
This position will require collaboration with other team disciplines including Land Surveying, Planning, and Construction Management to maintain project timelines, budgets, and client expectations.
As part of our Surveying Team, you will provide a wide variety of field data collection and staking activities, prepare survey drawings, and work directly with Staff and Clients. As a Crew Chief/Survey Technician your duties will include:
- Gathering and collecting field data efficiently and accurately
- Documenting daily activities with good field notes and sketches via a daily survey report
- Communicating with the client and Project Manager any changes or questions to the project
- Follow company procedures in the safety manual and use of all personal safety equipment including adherence to other company’s job site specific safety rules
- Uploading and downloading data to and from Civil3D
- Drafting of field work and data collected
- Records research

As part of our Surveying Team, this part-time or full-time position is for anyone interested in surveying as a career. Batterman is committed to providing mentorship to the right candidate to further the surveying profession, in exchange for supporting and assisting the Surveying Team with office and field work for various surveying projects including transportation, land/site development, land divisions, and other types of surveys. While being provided guidance and education, duties will include research, drafting, and overall assistance to the project leaders. A successful candidate will need to have the background or a desire to learn about the following areas:
- Surveying
- Plan/drawing preparation
- AutoCAD Civil3D

Duties will include drafting, research, and overall assistance to the project leaders. This position offers tremendous growth opportunities and will require a basic knowledge of drafting. A successful candidate will need to have a background in or a desire to learn about the following areas:
- Surveying
- Plan/drawing preparation
- Autocad Civil3D proficiency is desired, but we will train the right candidate
- Record research and database maintenance
