County Highway H Reconstruction & Roadway Improvements

CTH H Reconstruction & Perpetuation (2021)

This 0.8-mile reconstruction/perpetuation project involved geometric expansion and turn-lane additions to accommodate a 350,000-square-foot Kroger Distribution Center. This Transportation Economic Assistance (TEA) grant project was 50% funded by WisDOT ($950k grant) and included substantial utility relocation and drainage improvements (culverts and storm sewer).

A right-of-way plat was required to purchase additional property due to the road’s widened footprint. Additional deliverables for the project included: a supplemental survey, an environmental report, a design study report, utility coordination, a transportation management plan, final PS&E documents, and construction management.

CTH H Roadway Improvements (2024)

This two-mile project consisted of both resurfacing and reconditioning, completing the entire County H corridor between WIS 165 and WIS 50. The southern section, between WIS 165 and 93rd Place, involved pulverizing the existing asphalt pavement in place and placing new asphalt pavement. Additional improvements on the south segment included ditch grading, storm sewer upgrades, new curb and gutter at intersections, and sidewalk ramp upgrades.

The northern section, between Bain Station Road and Prairie Ridge Boulevard, involved milling the existing asphalt pavement and overlaying it with new asphalt. Other improvements to the north segment included spot curb-and-gutter replacement at the two roundabouts, inlet and manhole adjustments, and base patching.

Traffic control staging and detour plans were also developed. Extensive coordination with the Village of Pleasant Prairie was conducted to ensure the Village’s watermain upgrades were aligned with the roadway plans. Coordination was also completed with the Canadian Pacific railroad and private rail spur on the south segment.

Both design and construction management services were completed for this project.
